Mistral AI has introduced Codestral, an open-weight generative AI model explicitly designed for code generation tasks. This 22B parameter model is trained on a diverse dataset of over 80 programming languages, including Python, Java, C++, and JavaScript. It is designed to assist developers by completing coding functions, writing tests, and using a fill-in-the-middle mechanism to reduce errors. Codestral is available for research and testing purposes under a non-production license and can be accessed via dedicated API endpoints and integrations with tools like VSCode and LangChain.
