Agents Without Training Wheels: The Model Agent

A new paradigm for AI agents, called "Model Agents," is proposed as an alternative to the current "Framework Agents." Framework Agents are built at the application layer using software and LLM API calls, which leads to complexity, high costs, and poor long-context performance. In contrast, Model Agents integrate workflow management directly into the AI model, allowing them to generate steps dynamically based on instructions. This approach promises simpler, more flexible, and more efficient autonomous systems, representing a significant shift in how AI agents are built and deployed.
