AI Agents for Supply Chain Optimisation: Production Planning

AI agents can be combined with analytics to optimize supply chain production planning. An initial web application used the Wagner-Within algorithm to balance setup and holding costs, but it required manual user interaction. To improve this, the optimization algorithm was packaged into a FastAPI microservice and integrated into an AI workflow using n8n. This new system uses an AI agent to parse production requests from emails, extract parameters, trigger the optimization algorithm via an API, and automatically generate a summary of the optimal plan.
