Beyond Code Generation: AI for the Full Data Science Workflow

AI can now participate in an end-to-end data science workflow, moving beyond simple code generation to connect disparate tools and automate complex tasks. Using personal Apple Health data as an example, an AI tool called Codex was connected to Google Drive, GitHub, and BigQuery via a Model Context Protocol (MCP). The AI autonomously located raw data, referenced old code to parse it, uploaded the structured data to a warehouse, and generated a comprehensive analysis report in 30 minutes. This process highlights that context is a force multiplier for AI, and the data scientist's role will evolve to focus more on high-level problem-solving and guiding the AI rather than manual execution.
