Building a first-class code editor in Warp

Warp is transitioning from an intelligent terminal to a full Agentic Development Environment (ADE) by building a powerful, integrated code editor. The rationale is that as developers increasingly code by prompt, the traditional IDE becomes less relevant for the core workflow of guiding AI agents. This new environment is designed to support multi-agent workflows where agents can work across a user's entire machine. Key features like find-and-replace and redesigned code snippets were developed to enable developers to efficiently review and edit agent-generated code. The project also leveraged LLMs to improve feature discoverability and grappled with challenges like LLM non-determinism.
