Context Management for Deep Agents

Effective context management is critical for long-running AI agents to overcome memory constraints and prevent context rot. LangChain's Deep Agents SDK provides an open-source agent harness with built-in context compression features. The primary techniques used are offloading large tool inputs and outputs to a filesystem and performing summarization on the conversation history when context thresholds are met. The SDK also includes targeted evaluations, such as "needle-in-the-haystack" tests, to ensure agents can recover summarized information and maintain their original objectives.
