Context Management for Deep Agents

Effective context management is critical for AI agents performing long, complex tasks to handle finite LLM memory constraints. LangChain's open-source Deep Agents SDK implements several context compression techniques to address this challenge. These strategies include automatically offloading large tool results and inputs to a filesystem and performing summarization on the conversation history when context limits are approached. The effectiveness of these features is validated through real-world benchmarks and targeted evaluations designed to isolate specific mechanisms and ensure information is recoverable after compression.
