Escaping the Valley of Choice in BI

Business intelligence operates within a "Valley of Choice," where the effort to find an answer is balanced against the complexity of the question, with dashboards occupying the middle ground. This balance is being disrupted by "Agentic BI," which leverages advanced Text-to-SQL and AI agents to answer complex queries with very low effort. This shift threatens to make traditional dashboards and certain data analyst roles obsolete, as AI can handle tasks that previously required manual exploration. Consequently, the role of a data analyst is expected to evolve, requiring them to become "semantic architects" who design the systems these AI agents use.
