How to Filter for Dates, Including or Excluding Future Dates, in Semantic Models

A method is presented for filtering semantic models in Power BI to either include or exclude future data, addressing a common reporting challenge. The technique involves creating a new "Date Filter" table with distinct labels for current and future views, which is then related to the primary date table in the data model. This new table enables the creation of a simple slicer, providing users an intuitive way to toggle the data display without complex DAX code. This data modeling approach offers more flexibility than standard filters, especially when using index columns to define relative time periods.
