I don't care about your database benchmarks (and neither should you)

Competitive database benchmarks are a waste of time because they often compare fundamentally different systems, leading to an "apples vs. anvils" debate. These benchmarks are frequently misleading as they fail to account for critical differences in system behavior, such as data durability, consistency guarantees, and replication methods. Focusing on synthetic benchmarks can lead to poor product management; a better approach is to scale based on real customer workloads and feedback. Instead of engaging in benchmark wars, a more transparent method is to publish performance and cost data based on real-world application scenarios, which is more useful for customers building applications, including those in the AI space.
