Introducing Google’s LangExtract tool

Google has released LangExtract, a new open-source Python library for programmatic text processing and structured data extraction. The tool is designed to provide reliable, structured output with source traceability, effectively performing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) tasks without the traditional need for embedding and chunking. Through code examples, it demonstrates how to perform 'needle-in-a-haystack' searches in large documents and extract multiple structured entities from unstructured text. LangExtract is compatible with various models, including Google's Gemini and OpenAI's GPT, and can generate interactive visualizations to validate the extraction process.
