Is Agentic AI Just Automation?
https://towardsdatascience.com/is-agentic-ai-just-automation/(towardsdatascience.com)Many current systems labeled as "agentic AI" are merely complex automation that follows a predefined, albeit intricate, flowchart. A true agent is distinguished by its ability to handle "unknown unknowns," discovering new paths of inquiry that were not anticipated at the outset. For instance, an agent could uncover a hidden risk during due diligence by connecting an unusual contract clause to an obscure regulatory filing, a path no one knew to pre-program. To implement agentic systems, organizations should start by analyzing their exception queues where human judgment is applied, prioritize data access, and build robust evaluation frameworks before development.
