LitPivot: Developing research ideas through dynamic contextualization within the literature landscape

LitPivot is a system designed to help researchers develop ideas by dynamically contextualizing them within the scientific literature. The tool works by segmenting a research proposal into facets like problem, contribution, and evaluation, then retrieving and organizing relevant papers around the specific part being edited. It offers critiques supported by excerpts from the literature and suggests revisions, allowing researchers to pivot their ideas based on prior work. In a study, ideas developed with LitPivot were rated as better grounded in literature and more novel compared to those developed with a standard text editor and an AI chat tool.
