Seizing the Moment: The Hidden Silhouette of Data

https://towardsdatascience.com/seizing-the-moment-the-hidden-silhouette-of-data/(towardsdatascience.com)
Statistical moments provide a unified framework for metrics like mean, variance, skewness, and kurtosis, treating them as sequential powers of a random variable rather than separate tools. This concept is analogous to how exponents unify squares and cubes in algebra, allowing for generalized mathematical manipulation. The Moment Generating Function (MGF) extends this by encapsulating all of a distribution's moments into a single function using a Taylor series expansion. Due to its uniqueness property, the MGF can completely define a distribution, with applications in neural network optimization and evaluating generative models.
