Sentence Transformers is joining Hugging Face!

The Sentence Transformers library is officially transitioning from the UKP Lab at TU Darmstadt to Hugging Face. Originally introduced in 2019, the library provides high-quality semantic embeddings for Natural Language Processing tasks like semantic search and clustering using a Siamese network architecture known as Sentence-BERT. The project will remain open-source under the Apache 2.0 license and will be maintained by Hugging Face's Tom Aarsen, who will leverage the platform's infrastructure for continued development. With over 16,000 models already on the Hugging Face Hub, this move aims to ensure the library stays updated with the latest advancements in AI and Information Retrieval.
