Sequoia Backs Zed's Vision for Collaborative Coding

Zed Industries has announced a $32M Series B funding round to advance its vision for a collaborative coding platform. The company argues that current snapshot-based version control systems like Git are inadequate for continuous collaboration, especially with AI agents. To solve this, they are building DeltaDB, a new operation-based version control system using CRDTs to track every code change with edit-level granularity. This system aims to create a living history of the codebase where conversations and context from both human and AI interactions are permanently linked to the code as it evolves.
