Simplifying Our Jurassic-2 Offering

AI21 Labs is simplifying its Jurassic-2 (J2) foundation model offerings based on user feedback to reduce confusion and improve ease of use. The company is consolidating its lineup from five models down to three, with all models now including built-in instruct capabilities for both zero-shot and few-shot prompting. The previous model names of Large, Grande, and Jumbo are being replaced with the more intuitive names Light, Mid, and Ultra. These new models provide a clearer trade-off between size, cost, and latency, with Ultra being the most powerful, Mid offering a balance of quality and affordability, and Light being the fastest option for simpler tasks.
