The Open Source Community is backing OpenEnv for Agentic RL

OpenEnv is a tool for creating agentic execution environments, like terminals or browsers, for AI agents to interact with. The project is becoming more open and will now be coordinated by a committee including Meta-PyTorch, Nvidia, and Hugging Face to support the training of open-source agents. This initiative aims to improve open-source model performance by allowing them to be trained specifically for the harnesses they use, similar to how proprietary models are developed. OpenEnv is defined as an interoperability protocol layer for reinforcement learning (RL) environments, standardizing how they are published and consumed by agents without dictating reward functions.
