Mistral AI has released Mathstral, a new model specialized for STEM disciplines and advanced mathematical problems requiring complex, multi-step reasoning. Built upon Mistral 7B, it achieves state-of-the-art reasoning capabilities for its size, scoring 56.6% on the MATH benchmark and 63.47% on MMLU. The model's performance can be significantly improved with more computation during inference, reaching 68.37% on MATH with majority voting. Released in collaboration with Project Numina, Mathstral's weights are available on HuggingFace to support the scientific community.
