Zero-to-production: bootstrapping a custom model in AI21 Studio

A case study demonstrates how to build production-grade language applications using AI21 Studio, using a news article topic classification task as an example. It first implements a solution using prompt engineering with the Jurassic-1 model, showing that while effective, it has limitations regarding cost, latency, and input length. As a superior alternative, custom models are introduced, which can be trained on as few as 50-100 examples to achieve optimal performance for a specific task. This custom model approach is presented as a more precise, scalable, and cost-effective solution for production environments, also offering safety advantages over general-purpose models.
